Artist Statement

In my artistic practice I try to balance the commitment to my initial intentions with a more free and flexible attitude towards spontaneity and when it comes to artistic style I tend to combine more realistic elements with stylization and abstraction. For me the experience of creating art becomes more interesting, unique and adventurous that way and I’d rather be open-minded and dance through the process than wrestle rigidly. I step away from a painting when there’s a presence and it feels visually harmonious. My end goal and hope is that it will resonate with the viewer and whether it’s by feeling or thought also be of personal value.

Artist Bio

Fredrik Birgegård (b.1992) is a representational oil painter. His work is described as vibrant and dynamic and his current practise revolves (inter alia) around balancing confrontative and complementary visual styles and techniques. In addition to human figure and portraiture, he has recently taken a keen interest in landscape painting. Fredrik practices art professionally and works out of Uppsala and Gräsö in Sweden, also Rayong in Thailand.
